Finally, Samsung is following in the footsteps of LG and will introduce its own Beta Test environment for developers, to have a better approach while launching the application to a wider audience for testing. As a development company focused on developing Smart TV applications, we understand the value of meticulous testing and user feedback before releasing an application to the world.
This is why we are thrilled to announce that starting November 15th, Samsung will introduce its own Beta Test. Beta testing not only helps us polish the app but also gives you, our users, the power to shape its final form. Let’s dive into how will this process work and what are the steps.
Step-by-Step Guide to Entering the Samsung Smart TV Beta Test
- Creating Beta Test The first step in the process is the creation of the Beta Test. This is initiated by us as developers who are preparing the new applications to be tested. As a tester, you won’t be involved in this step, but it’s an important part of the setup process.
- Approval Samsung will review and approve the Beta Test applications to ensure they meet certain standards and criteria for testing. This ensures that users have a smooth testing experience.
- Recruiting Testers This is the part where together with the client we can choose who will be eligible to test the application, via an activation code.
- Distribution of Activation Codes Once you’re selected as a tester, you’ll receive an Activation Code. This code is crucial, as it will allow you to download and install the Beta version of the application on your Samsung Smart TV.
- Install Beta Version With Activation Codes With the Activation Code in hand, follow these steps:
- Turn on your Samsung Smart TV.
- Navigate to the app section and select the Beta Test application.
- Enter your Activation Code when prompted.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the Beta version of the app.
- Close Beta Test The Beta Test will run for a predetermined amount of time. Once the testing period is over, Samsung will close the Beta Test. As a tester, make sure you’ve explored every feature and made notes on your experience to provide valuable feedback.
- Feedback After testing, you’ll have the opportunity to give feedback on your experience. This is perhaps the most critical step, as your insights will help developers fine-tune the application before its official release.
This option will drastically change the way we used to test applications, because before we could not have an option to really involve users to test the application via a more standardized way of testing, except the usual widget installation via a USB stick.
